Firefighters extinguish dumpster fire in Mapunapuna

Honolulu firefighters extinguished a blaze in a large dumpster near a business on Mapunapuna Street this morning.

The fire at 685 Mapunapuna Street was reported at 4:08 a.m. and brought under control at 4:34 a.m.

The dumpster, about 20 feet by 8 feet  by 8 feet, contained roofing materials, tree cuttings and other commercial waste, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig.

The fire was contained to the dumpster and the cause of the fire is undetermined, Seelig said.
