KAPAAU, Hawaii » Hawaii County police say a man who allegedly shot a police officer and a woman during a domestic disturbance is in custody.

West Hawaii Today reports Tuesday a police spokeswoman says there were no additional injuries from the incident.

The 37-year-old suspect barricaded himself in the North Kohala home and stayed there for more than 20 hours.

Police didn’t release the man’s name.

Police responded to reports of yelling and screaming from the home Monday night.

Police say gunfire struck an officer’s right arm. A woman from inside the house told officers her boyfriend shot one of her thighs.

The officer and the woman were taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital. They are in stable condition.

Neighboring residents were evacuated as a precaution.
