Homeless man booked for Ala Moana shoplifting is ex-con

A 56-year-old homeless man, who was caught shoplifting from an Ala Moana Center store Tuesday, was booked as a "habitual” offender.

The suspect was arrested at 2:10 p.m.

A check of the suspect’s records by police showed that he has three felony convictions for theft. Under the habitual property crime statute, a class C felony, the maximum prison term is five years.
