The Medical Examiner’s office has identified the victims in two separate water related incidents this weekend.

The cause and manner of death for Kenneth Amps, a 65-year-old homeless man from Waianae, is still pending further tests. Amps’ body was recovered from the reef at Makua Beach Friday morning.

Suji Back, 21, of Honolulu, drowned, the Medical Examiner’s office said.

Lifeguards saw two swimmers in distress in rough surf at Waimanalo Beach Park at around 3 p.m. Saturday about 70 feet offshore.

A male swimmer in his 20s was rescued.

Lifeguards and the Hawaii Fire Department then searched for the second swimmer, a woman in her 20s, for more than 30 minutes.

Crews eventually found her and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
