L.A. man held on $1M bail in fraudulent credit card scheme
Prosecutors today charged a 37-year-old Los Angeles man who was arrested Tuesday for allegedly making fraudulent credit card purchases exceeding $40,000.
Justin Thompson of a Wilshire Boulevard address was arrested on suspicion of first-degree theft, and multiple offenses including fraudulent use of a credit card.
Thompson was charged Thursday with four counts of first-degree theft, one count of first-degree attempted theft and five counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. His bail was set at $1 million.
Police said Thompson made purchases of more than $20,000 with a fraudulent credit card on Monday. He then returned to the area on Tuesday, was identified and arrested.
After further investigation, police said they learned he made three other purchases totaling in excess of $20,000 and an attempted fraudulent purchase of more than $20,000.
Police said Thompson used a single fraudulent credit card to make the purchases.
