Witnesses who may have seen an attempted robbery at a fast food restaurant in downtown Hilo on March 6 are asked to contact Big Island police.

Three men tried to take a wallet from a 57-year-old man sometime between 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the McDonald’s restaurant on Kinoole Street, police said.

Detectives want to talk with a couple who assisted the victim and any other witnesses in the area.

One of the suspects is described as a man in his mid 20s to mid 30s, about 5-foot-11 to 6-feet tall with a husky build, a dark complexion and shoulder-length curly hair pushed up. He was not wearing a shirt.

The second man is in his early 20s, about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 with a medium build, a dark complexion and short dark hair. He was wearing dark shorts and no shirt.

Detectives learned that there was a third suspect involved, another man in his 20s, about 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-7, with a slim build and a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored T-shirt, a pair of dark-colored shorts, and a black cap with a design on it and worn backwards.
