Obama vs Trump: Dispute erupts over who would have won

President-elect Donald Trump and President Barack Obama are trading competing claims about who would have won if the 2016 presidential election had been a contest between the two men.

Obama says in a podcast hosted by his former adviser David Axelrod that he’s confident he would have won a majority of Americans if he’d run this year on the vision he’s pursued for the last eight. He says Democrats didn’t communicate that vision clearly enough this year.

But Trump is disputing Obama’s claim. He says on Twitter that Obama should say that, but adds, “I say NO WAY!”

Trump is suggesting Obama’s record is the reason he wouldn’t have won again. He’s pointing to jobs leaving the U.S., “Obamacare” struggles and the conflict against the Islamic State group.

Everyone should be able to see that Mr. Trump is mentally ill. His endless and childish Twitter rants are the pastime of a 13 year old – not a 70 year old president elect.

This is going to be a really awful four years.

      Give it up klastri.

If Obama thinks he would have won a 3rd term himself then he’s had as much tainted kool aide as you.

So tired of people like you who’ve been wearing blinders for the past 8 years and still have them on after 30 states out of 50 wanted Obummer’s BS to end.

      • klastri says:

But 3 million more people wanted Mrs. Clinton.

        Facts are very stubborn.

Perhaps, History will remember Pres. Obama for what he truly was…a charismatic, popular, first black president, but also being one of the worst managers of the federal govt. ever who ends his tenure with a nation divided. With the VA, OPM, EPA, Obamacare etc. scandals the fed. Govt. becomes more inefficient, expensive, and less responsive to their customer taxpayers. Sadly his legacy has become the Trump elect presidency and a divided nation…questionable if not diminished honors at best.

All in California. Why don’t we let them decide who would be POTUS in the next election.

Take Kalifornia out & PE Trump would’ve won the Popular Vote as well. Libs should study WHY we have the Electoral College.

You know that it wasn’t a contest for the most votes but rather total Electoral votes. It appears that you haven’t gotten over your “landslide” prediction. You know that CA gave Hillary over 4 million votes than for Trump. CA did not have a Republican running for the Senate, which caused even lower Republican turn out. Also, look at the number of votes as a result of generations of illegals crossing the border. The demographics have totally changed as a result of an open border.

Hey DONKEY!! What about the fact that Mr. Trump won the electoral college? What about the fact that Mr. Trump is President Elect? What about the fact that your a whining liberal cry baby that can’t get over how your candidate has lost the same election multiple times? What about the fact that we are all sick and tired of people like you that are unabashedly un-American and wish to destroy the very fabric of what our founding fathers built. Beat it!

      • Keonigohan says:

Obama…what have you accomplished in 8 years that benefited a MAJORITY of Americans?

    • beachbum11 says:

Just like the last 8 years.

This will be a really great 8 years.

Obama wasn’t on the ballot, but his policies, his agenda, his track record WAS on the ballot. And he got creamed. Not just in the presidential election, but house, senate, and state races. Like an obstinate child, and absolute narcissist, he hypothesizes he could win another term. BO, if you want your pipe dreams, you can have your pipe dreams.

  4. calentura says:

Maybe if Trump had run for president in 2008, he would have beaten Obama. There, see how stupid this line of conjecture is..? It would take someone as self-serving as Obama to bring it up.

  5. yogaman says:

Another reason why I can see people believing Obama was not born in Hawaii. Bragging that he would win a 3rd term. Not the humble qualities most people from Hawaii have. Jan 20 cannot come any sooner.

  6. sandi2000 says:

Obama’s legacy was one of the main reasons for Trump’s victory. He also handed a lot of governorships to the republicans. Obama and Hiliary’s “baggage” were blessings to the Trump candidacy.
