Firefighters assist hikers off Oahu trails
Honolulu Fire Department personnel assisted a pair of hikers off Oahu trails today.
Four companies staffed by 12 firefighters responded to a 4:15 p.m. emergency call to Hawaii Loa Ridge Trail, where a 66-year-old woman suffered an ankle injury and was unable to continue.
Firefighters located the woman, treated her, and carried her off the trail in a Stokes basket.
Later, three companies staffed with 11 HFD personnel responded to a 4:56 p.m. call to the Kaau Crater Trail.
According to HFD spokesperson Capt. Kevin Mokulehua, a 30-year-old man had been hiking with friends when he lost contact with the rest of the group.
Firefighters hiked along the trail and were able to locate the missing man as he called for help. The firefighters escorted the man safely off the trail, arriving at the trailhead at 8:12 p.m.

And in the mean time, those with medical emergencies at home need to wait for a longer time to get help from First responders.
Why is someone at home more worthy of help than those out exercising? Do you have any data that supports your claim that people at home had to wait for help?
