Patient allegedly assaults Hawaii State Hospital worker
A 55-year-old man was arrested this morning after he assaulted a Hawaii State Hospital worker in Kaneohe, police said.
The 37-year-old victim was doing work-related duties about 1:45 a.m. when the older man, a patient at the hospital, struck him, causing the victim pain, police said.
The suspect was arrested about 7 a.m. for investigation of second-degree assault.

If convicted, he can share a cell with the Tui guy (see other article). Tui needs a new older cellmate, and isn’t a murderer or anything. He’s just misunderstood, as people tend to overreact about manslaughter.
This is a difficult population to work with, without a well-trained staff and sufficient resources mayhem occurs. Even in the best scenario, where all the right things are in place, there will be assaults and escapes, perhaps even worse, but they will be less frequent and less severe, and the facility will feel safe and undet control for both staff and residents. Moving someone to the jail may be best for now, but HSH needs the addition of the secure building to better care for the most disturbed and aggressive cases.
