The Koko Crater Tramway trail is scheduled to be closed for a half day Wednesday, from 6 a.m. to noon, while city crews work to remove a beehive in the old trestle bridge portion of the tramway at Koko Head District Park, the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation announced today.

The department advised that the public keep out of the area in the meantime.

“We urge all hikers and members of the public to avoid the tramway during this time, and appreciate your patience while this work is being done,” the statement said.

While city crews will do their best to remove and relocate the hive, extermination may be necessary, the department added.
