Motorcyclist critically injured after he crashes into tree in Waialae Iki

Emergency Medical Services transported a motorcyclist to a hospital after he crashed into a tree in Waialae Iki.

At about 5:40 p.m. Monday, police said a 2002 Honda motorcycle operated by a 28-year-old Honolulu man was traveling down Halekoa Drive at a high rate of speed when he lost control.

The motorcyclist skidded down the roadway and struck a tree.

EMS treated and transported the man to a trauma hospital in critical condition. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Police said speed was a factor.
