I wholeheartedly support this editorial by Kekeha Solis lamenting the removal of the word "Rainbow" from the name of UH sports teams. Except for the closing sentence where he writes that Ben Jay ought to attend Hawaiian Studies courses. I also am pleased to see that Solis has not molested the names "Ben Jay" or "Bachman" by trying to Hawaiianize them into something like Peni Kea or Pakamana, perhaps. Although "Pakamana" would carry kaona suggesting that the folks who work there might be smoking something that interferes with their ability to think straight.

He anuenue nani i ka lani ma'o, i luna o na kuahiwi Ko'olau ma Kane'ohe i keia kakahiaka. He ho'ailona ke anuenue. Ho'ike ke anuenue ke ku'ikahi o na waiho'olu'u a pau. Maika'i loa! No laila, ku au i kako'o o ka inoa kapakapa "anuenue" o na hui 'alapa kane o ke Kulanui o Hawaii ma Manoa.

You resort to getting other people to write for you, AND read. How pathetic and deceitful. Quite expected from someone like you, liar.

How pathetic and deceitful your comment is. You are the liar. Nobody has ever done reading or writing on my behalf. And as usual, you are following the "Rules for Radicals" concept of demonizing someone by writing personal attacks instead of discussing the actual issues. We're talking about the rainbow name for men's sports teams, and Solis' correct spellings of the names of people and places; we're not talking about whether Conklin reads and writes for himself. Week after week you come here and spout irrelevant and scurrilous nonsense, thereby undercutting whatever redeeming social value this weekly Hawaiian language column might have. Shame on you.

Coming from someone who wrote a one page diatribe attacking a dead man, Soli Niheu, and his family in this very column you just come across as hypocritical, especially since you have attacked the authors of these columns and the Hawaiian language itself. SHALL I SEND YOU ANOTHER PHOTOCOPY OF YOUR PAST COMMENTS?? This kind of feigned victim sob story is typical of you. After I pointed out that you are such a racist, you pretend to be so sweet and innocent, but you forget that your original comments about Hawaiian being a secret code and how the authors corrupt the Hawaiian language are still around. This fake appreciation of Hawaiian on your part is as fake as your attempt at speaking Hawaiian. You make mistakes galore that render everything you say useless. Just stick to English

Why David Rogers you speak of someone else being "pathetic and deceitful"? Really? You are the guy that goes back to year old columns that the newspaper scrubbed your awful comments from and puts new comments under your new moniker Terii under Kelii. Case in point Sat. 4-28-12(a year ago). What kind of person would do that? This is unethical behavior and disrespectful to the newspaper and the University of Hawaii, but also to the commenters that cannot defend themselves because they are unaware you have done this underhanded deed. It is clearly psychopathic behavior, an proves that David Rogers has no integrity and cannot be trusted!

Now to the column: Unfortunately, like the name "Hawaiian" that was stolen from all the people of Hawaii to mean only Hawaiians of Polynesian blood, "Rainbow" was stolen by the Gay and Lesbian population to represent their agenda. As a consequence, now U of H sports teams don't want to be called "Rainbows". Can you blame them? Team names should be strong. "Rainbows" sounds like a woman's quilting club.
